This film was such a pleasure on a creative level.  With its dark and mysterious storyline and its rich cast of characters both good and bad, it offered many opportunities to try and enhance the texture or mood of its scenes through the cinematography and lighting.   We spent almost six weeks shooting in the DRC, and while some moments could be a bit dark or depressing, I could at least be buoyed by the strong scenes that I felt we were capturing each day.  (natural history footage of gorillas shot by Bob Poole)
